Wilbur Chintall, 90, of Warrenton, died Oct. 24, 2008, in his home.
He was born in Eddystone, Pa., and lived in Burlington, N.J., for most of his life before moving to Warrenton. During World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he taught radar in Washington, D.C. He owned his own business in Burlington before working for RCA, later Sperry Univac, in Dayton, N.J. He was responsible for training and worked primarily on large main-frame computers. He was also involved in the development and rollout of modern barcode scanners.
He was predeceased by his wife, Clara Markwood Chintall.
Survivors include four daughters, Connie Chintall of Warrenton, Rita Bobrofsky and Pam Chintall of Burlington, and Lana Sarchiapone of Plainsboro, N.J.; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is a sister, Blanche Archer of Emerald Isle, N.C.
The family will receive visitors at Grace Episcopal Church in Casanova on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 10-11 a.m., followed by a memorial service.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Hospice Support of Fauquier County.
