Rapist Will Serve 30 Years

A Linden man convicted on several felony charges including rape was sentenced on Monday to 75 years in prison with all but 30 years suspended.

Circuit Court Judge Jeffrey W. Parker ordered Kenneth R. Jenkins II, 28, to serve 35 years for rape, 20 for robbery, 20 for burglary, 20 for abduction with intent to defile and five for grand larceny. All terms will run consecutively except for the burglary and grand larceny charges, which will run concurrently.

Parker suspended the bulk of the sentence on the condition that Jenkins spend the rest of his life on supervised probation.

The charges stemmed from an incident in the northern end of the county last September. Fauquier County deputies responded to a report of a rape and burglary Sept. 10. The victim reported being attacked by assailants who were hiding in her residence.

BJ Harlan, who was gravely ill when she was attacked, died Feb. 25.

“This is a tragic situation all around. These offenses are quite chilling. It doesn’t get much worse unless you get to murder,” Parker said before announcing his ruling. “They are shocking by this court’s standards.”

Even so, Parker sentenced Jenkins to less time in prison than Timothy Scott Lowery, the co-defendant in the case.
