Pit Bull Attack Investigated
An incident in which three pit bull terriers attacked a miniature horse remains under investigation.Maj. Paul Mercer of the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office said the incident happened at approximately 9:46 p.m. March 8.
“Deputies responded to the 7000 block of Catlett Road for a report of dogs attacking a miniature horse. When they arrived, they separated the dogs from the miniature horse and contained them in a fenced-in area,” Mercer said.
Animal Control officers from the Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene and took the dogs to the SPCA, where they are being quarantined.
Mercer said the investigation determined the dogs belong to Theresa Betler of Bealeton. The miniature horse, which was evaluated by a vet who came to the scene, sustained injuries to its head and neck.
