Police And Court Briefs
Inson SentencedKimberly Dawn Inson, a Warrenton woman convicted on two felony counts of carnal knowledge of a child under 15 years of age, was sentenced in Fauquier County Circuit Court May 26.
The charges stemmed from incidents that occurred in December and January. Inson was arrested Jan. 26 and pleaded guilty to the charges March 23.
She was sentenced to 10 years in prison with eight years and six months suspended.
Inson will be on supervised probation for two years upon her release. She must also pay $177 in court costs.
Bike Recovered, Arrest Made
Police said Rashauld Jamal Whitfield, 18, of Bealeton was charged with grand larceny after he allegedly took a Mirra BMX bike.
According to police records, the bike was in front of a store on Village Center Drive when it was taken May 26. It was reportedly worth approximately $1,030.
Whitfield was released on a $2,500 unsecured personal recognizance bond.
Burglary Investigated
Fauquier County detectives are investigating a burglary reported to the Sheriff's Office May 28.
Maj. Greg Mauck said a complainant from the 5300 block of Telephone Road in New Baltimore reported the incident, which involved the theft of tools. The estimated loss in the case is $3,565.
Property Damage Reported
The Fauquier County Sheriff's Office received a report of damage to private property May 29.
Police records show a complainant from the 4100 block of Sumerduck Road in Sumerduck reported the incident, which included damage to several windows and doors. The estimated loss in the case is $5,000.
Camera Stolen
The Fauquier County Sheriff's Office received a report of a larceny May 30.
According to police records, a complainant from the 9800 block of Nina Lane in Midland reported the theft of a Casio camera. The item was reportedly worth approximately $600.
Propane Truck Involved in Wreck
No one was seriously hurt when a propane truck hit a car at the intersection of Catlett Road and Messick Road May 27.
According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, the accident happened at approximately 5:30 p.m.
Darwin Gregory Holt, 45, of Winchester, was driving the 2006 International truck registered to AmeriGas Propane company. He was going northbound on Catlett Road when he hit a car in front of him that stopped to make a left turn, police said.
Shawn Michael Otte, who was driving the Lincoln Town Car, wasn't visibly hurt but complained of pain. He was transported to the hospital by EMS personnel, according to the report.
Holt, who was uninjured, was charged with following too closely.
Deer, Fox Cause Crash
A Broad Run woman sustained minor injuries when she was involved in a motor vehicle accident May 28, police said.
According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, the wreck happened in the area of Blantyre Road and Georgetown Road at approximately 8:43 a.m.
Alexandria March Gaines-Smith, 18, was driving a 1999 Volvo S70 when she apparently swerved to avoid hitting a deer and a fox. She hit a sign belonging to VDOT before she could regain control, causing approximately $2,500 in damages to the front of the vehicle.
