 FHS Students Offer One-Act Plays

Fauquier High School will present its Winter Festival of One-Act Plays this weekend in the school’s Addison Lightfoot Auditorium.

About 20 students participated in the project, writing, directing and acting in the original productions, said FHS theater director Kevin Mettinger.

Open to the public, the plays will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30 and Saturday, Jan. 31, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1. Tickets are $7.50 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens.

"Safari", written and directed by FHS senior Eric Weathers, is a play that, in the director's words, "asks whether it is better to be ignorant or aware in regard to the world around you, or if it even matters as long as you are happy. It is a play about how this search for an answer can be ridiculous and even comedic."

Featuring students Alex Towers, Addison Hoff, Hannah Brice, Amy Phillips, Morgan Paugh, Jimi Horton, and Kiana Davenport, the play incorporates a fake doctor, a robot snake, and an iPod. Senior Adam Cody serves as stage manager for the play.
"Project Revolution" follows the story of six teens who try to save their local park. "Project Revolution" is a one-act musical written by FHS seniors Elizabeth Wyld and Natalie Henson. Henson also serves as director with musical direction from Wyld.

The play’s cast includes Tina Hughes, Maggie Gorman, Jimi Horton, Tim Sampson, Ryan Newby, David Sabre, and Blair Boswell. Senior Erica Baxter serves as stage manager and freshman Caitlin Duggan will accompany on the keyboard.
In "Were You There?" the citizens of Earth receive a message from an unknown being, assumed to be God. Everything goes well for a while, but then a woman comes forward who is able to read the message.

Finding the message inadequate, people become upset, even violent. Riots and wars break out and, within 24 hours, a nuclear bomb is detonated, forcing people to live underground. The story is told through the lives of two married couples who are telling it to their children. Senior Hanna Litwinowicz wrote and directed "Were You There?"
The cast includes Alex Towers, Hannah Brice, Sara Jane Rodgers, Tim Sampson, Madeline Hooker, Cassidy Glascock, and Janelle Cottman.
