Culpeper man charged with reckless driving, racingA driver who was allegedly racing with another vehicle on New Year's Eve is now facing multiple charges, police said.
Maj. Paul Mercer of the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office said a deputy charged Tony Lewis Feaganes, 35 of Culpeper with reckless driving by speed (109 mph in a 55 mph zone); racing and eluding.
The charges stem from an incident on the Eastern Bypass in which Feaganes allegedly went through the deputy's radar with another vehicle. Deputies did not find the other vehicle, Mercer said.
In the meantime, a Warrenton police officer clocked Feaganes driving at 99 mph on East Lee Highway, according to Warrenton Police Chief Connie Novak.
Warrenton police also charged Feaganes with misdemeanor reckless driving, Novak said.
His bond was reportedly set at $100 for each mile above the posted speed limit on each law enforcement officer's radar, or approximately $9,800.
Delaplane man charged with exposure
A Delaplane man was charged with exposure Jan. 2, police said.
According to Warrenton Police Chief Connie Novak, the arrest stemmed from an incident that occurred at approximately 12 p.m. A Rixeyville woman was reportedly jogging on the Greenway when she observed a naked man standing off the pathway near Taylor Middle School.
Responding officers found Jason Horn, 25, laying in the grass fully clothed, Novak said. He was allegedly pretending to be asleep when officers found him near the area of the reported exposure.
Horn was taken into custody and charged with exposure. He was also charged with exposure in connection with an incident that occurred Nov. 6, Novak explained.
He was reportedly held without bond.
Burglary reported
Fauquier County deputies responded to a report of a burglary in the 6300 block of Lee Highway [U.S. 29] Dec. 30.
According to a police report, someone from the address reported a burglary with the theft of a 1997 Ford Taurus. The estimated loss is $1,095.
Jeep reported stolen
A motor vehicle theft reported to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office Dec. 30 remains under investigation.
According to law enforcement records, someone from the 7200 block of Colonial Road in Warrenton reported the theft of a 1995 Jeep. The estimated loss is $2,000.
Larcenies reported
The Fauquier County Sheriff's Office received reports of larcenies Dec. 31 and Jan. 3.
The details included in police reports are as follows:
— Dec. 31, Someone from the 8500 block of Opal Road, Warrenton, reported the theft of knives, a diamond ring and a Colt .44 caliber firearm. The estimated loss is $3,000 and an investigation is ongoing.
— Jan. 3, A caller from the 7800 block of Wellington Drive, Warrenton reported the theft of a Kicker CVX12 and a ZX750. The estimated loss is $850.
Minor injuries reported in wreck
Three people sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 29 Dec. 30, police said.
A Fauquier County deputy's report indicates the wreck happened in the 5000 block of Lee Highway [U.S. 29] at approximately 2:45 p.m.
Andrew Thomas Hanson, 26, of Spotslyvania, was driving a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am when a Cadillac Escalade in front of him slowed suddenly due to traffic, according to the report. Hanson was unable to stop in time and hit the Escalade from behind, the report states.
Allison Balir Page, 28, of Gainesville and two juveniles in the SUV apparently sustained minor injuries, but were not transported to the hospital by EMS, police said.
Hanson, who was not injured, was reportedly charged with following too closely.
