Myer Resigns as Fire Chief
After working for the county for 17 years, Department of Fire and Emergency Services Chief Philip Myer tendered his resignation Feb. 11. It takes effect Feb. 27.During the course of his career here, Myer has held several positions, including firefighter/paramedic, captain and fire chief.
As the head of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, he is primarily responsible for overseeing the county's contingent of career fire and rescue personnel.
In an interview this week, Myer said only that he is leaving “to pursue other professional interests.”
Deputy County Administrator Katie Heritage confirmed Myer resigned, but declined to comment further other than to wish him well.
