SPCA Needs Help in Outfitting New Building

With a grand opening tentatively slated for the end of next month, the staff at the Fauquier SPCA is busily preparing the new Animal Control Intake center for its first inhabitants.

According to Executive Director Judith Hagerman, the new building will be used to house animals at the shelter that are not yet available for adoption — quarantined animals or those that are the subject of ongoing court proceedings .

Pets available for adoption will be kept in the existing shelter building.

Since a lot of the supplies and equipment — including cat cages and dog beds — being used in the current shelter will be moved into the new building, Hagerman said the organization needs the public's help to replace them.
