Catlett This Week: Last week to send in old photos
I received a call from Simon Schrock as he and his wife were driving to Holmes County, Ohio, to a revival where he will be speaking this week. He wanted me to inform everyone of the revival that will be held Oct. 7-10 at Faith Christian Fellowship, on Dumfries Road here in Catlett.
Services will begin at 7:30 each evening. David Hershberger of Sioux Lookout, Ontario, will be the guest speaker. Call (540) 788-9878 for more information.
Some of you may remember the story of interest that was put in this column earlier this year regarding Joyce and Lonnie Moore visiting his daughter Shirley and her family in Germany, after their search of many years. Well, she is here in the U.S.
Lonnie called me when Shirley and her husband Tom and daughter Chiara, arrived in Catlett. We were thrilled to visit with them and watched as Chiara took her first steps (on American soil) from grandpa to mama. We watched as she continued to get brave and take many more steps alone. Shirley and Tom have two older children, Silewa and Manuel, who remained in Germany because of school.
Oops again! Ruby and Selvin Heflin only have three sons, rather than four. They had a lot of fun with my mistake.
The annual Calverton High School reunion will be held Oct. 12 at Wesleyan UMC, 9711 Bristersburg Road, Calverton. Anyone that attended this school in any given year is welcome. There will be a covered-dish lunch beginning at 1:30 p.m. For more information, call (540) 788-9684.
Diane and Steve Wade spent an enjoyable week In South Carolina visiting with his son David. They were able to go to the tractor show in Daucusville, as well as help with finishing the garage for David.
We want to give everyone the opportunity to have copies of their prized possessions of "old" pictures placed in our new fire house. You must respond this week. Time is getting short for the all-day open house on Oct. 25.
You can reach me at the e-mail address or phone number at the heading of this column. I will make arrangements with you to get the pictures and see that they are returned. Please call; I don't want anyone with such items to miss out on this place of honor of our Catlett heritage.
Catlett columnist Virginia Copeland can be reached at (540) 788-4609 or catlett1966@earthlink.net.
