Larcenies reported

Two larcenies reported to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office last week remain under investigation. The details of each incident as documented in police records are as follows:

Sept. 15 someone from the 5200 block of Dapple Lane, Warrenton, reported the theft of a WII console, controllers and games. The estimated loss is $770.

Sept. 19, a caller from the 4700 block of Oasis Lane, Hume, reported the theft of a Maytag Neptune. The estimated loss is $2,000.


Embezzlement investigated

Fauquier County detectives are investigating alleged embezzlement reported Sept 18.

Police records indicate a caller from the 6500 block of Commerce Court, Warrenton reported embezzlement from Excavating and Foundation Sealing Companies. The estimated loss is $76,900.


Fraud and forgery reported

Two residents reported incidents involving forgery and fraud to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office Sept. 17-18.

According to police records, a complainant from the 5800 block of Wildfire Court in Warrenton reported the forgery. The estimated loss is $63,500. An investigation is ongoing.

Someone from the 6100 block of Marsh Run Drive in Bealeton reported check fraud with an estimated loss of $2,000.


Residence burglarized

Two firearms and some audio-visual equipment were reportedly taken during a residential burglary Sept. 19.

Police records indicate someone from the 7100 block of Wotton Road in Bealeton reported the burglary and theft of a Remington 870, a Rossi revolver and the audio-visual equipment. The estimated loss is $700 and an investigation is ongoing.


Manassas man arrested on drug charge

Jason Charriez, 19, of Manassas was reportedly arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute Sept. 19.

Warrenton Police Chief Connie Novak said the chain of events leading to the arrest began when a resident on Colonel Edmonds Court reported suspicious people in the neighborhood. Officers located three people from Manassas.

When they approached the person who was outside of the car, officers observed him throw a baggie into the air, Novak said. The officers got the baggie from the tree in which it landed, and field tested the substance inside. The results were positive for cocaine.

The total weight was approximately 13 grams, with a street value of approximately $1,300, Novak said.

The man who allegedly threw the baggie was subsequently identified as Charriez. He also had almost $900 in cash in his shoe, according to the chief.

Charriez was initially held with no bond.


Pursuit ends with arrest

A motorcycle pursuit that began on U.S. 17 in Fauquier County ended with the arrest of a Bristow man on I-66, police said.

Virginia State Trooper David Paschal is assigned to the Area 12 Office in Warrenton. He said he was conducting stationary radar on U.S. 17 [James Madison Highway] near Old Zion Road at approximately 4:39 p.m. He said he clocked a motorcycle coming over the hill at 71 mph. The speed limit is 55 mph.

Paschal said the motorcycle then took off up U.S. 17 to I-66, west, where the pursuit continued at speeds in excess of 100 mph.

Once on the highway, the rider, who was later identified as Shawn Michael Turner, 25, saw a deputy and tried to go through gravel crossover to avoid him, Paschal said. Turner, who had slowed down considerably by that time, laid his Suzuki sports bike down, the trooper added.

Paschal said he was able to take Turner into custody before he could flee again. Turner was charged with felony eluding, driving without a motorcycle endorsement on his license and no inspection.

No one was hurt, according to Paschal.


Failure to yield charged

A Berryville man was reportedly charged with failure to yield the right of way after he was involved in a fender-bender Sept. 17.

According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, the accident happened and the Bloom Shopping Center access road near Winchester Road [U.S. 17] at approximately 6:15 p.m.

John F. Ramey, 44, was driving a 2005 Ford Ranger pickup truck when he allegedly pulled out of a parking lot onto the access road and hit a 2000 Saturn in the left side.

Judy Lynn Christian, 37, of Marshall, who was driving the Saturn, was not visibly injured but complained of pain, according to the report. She was transported to the hospital by EMS personnel.


Armored car driver charged in wreck

The driver of an armored car was charged with failure to control a vehicle after he was involved in a wreck on Halfway Road Sept. 18, police said.

According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, the incident happened at approximately 2:18 p.m.

Abdelmonem Mohamed Ali, 53, of Annandale, was driving a 1992 International registered to Dunbar Armored, Inc., southbound on Halfway Road when he hit a bank on the right. The vehicle then went across the road and hit another bank before crossing the road again where it went through a wooden fence and hit a tree, police said.

The estimated damage to the fence was $500.

Ali did not sustain any visible injuries, but complained of pain. He was not transported to the hospital by EMS.


Minor injuries in wreck

Police said a Remington man and a 16-year-old Jeffersonton boy both sustained only minor injuries after they were involved in a car crash Sept. 18.

A Fauquier County deputy's report indicates the crash happened at the intersection of Lucky Hill Road and Tin Pot Run Lane at approximately 4:48 p.m.

Olden Wayne Flood, 76, of Remington, was driving a 1989 Chevrolet 2500 when he allegedly failed to yield at the intersection and hit the teen's 1995 Chevy Blazer in the driver's side.

Both drivers complained of pain but neither had any visible signs of injuries, according to the report. Neither was transported by EMS personnel.


One hurt in one-car crash

A Linden woman reportedly sustained minor injuries when she was involved in a single-vehicle accident Sept. 20.

According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, the wreck happened on Firey Run Road near Harold's Corner at approximately 7:10 p.m.

Jessica Aubrey Price, 21, was driving a 2002 Subaru Outback when it went off the right side of the road and hit a tree. The car then spun around and wound up facing the opposite direction.

Price complained of pain but did not have any visible injuries, according to the report. She was not transported to the hospital by EMS.
