Fraud reported

The Fauquier County Sheriff's Office received three reports of fraud Sept. 2-4. The details provided in police records are as follows:

Sept. 2, a complainant in the 70 block of West Lee Street, Warrenton reported credit card fraud. The estimated loss is undetermined and an investigation is ongoing.

Sept. 3, someone from the 11000 block of Coffman Circle, Bealeton, reported fraud involving a check/debit card. The estimated loss is $547.

Sept. 4, a caller from the 13000 block of Union Church Road in Sumerduck reported a lottery scam. The estimated loss is $1,650 and an investigation is ongoing.


Larcenies investigated

Fauquier County detectives are investigating two of three thefts reported to the Sheriff's Office last week.

Sept. 3, someone from the 6600 block of Lancaster Drive in Warrenton reported the theft of a gold ring. The estimated loss is $5,000.

Sept. 5, a caller from the 6300 block of Savannah Branch Road in Remington reported the theft of $400 in cash from a building.

Sept. 5, a complainant from the 10800 block of Blake Lane, Bealeton, reported a Blackberry had been stolen. The estimated loss is $400.


Lawn mowers stolen

Police records indicate five Kubota lawnmowers valued at more than $40,000 were reported stolen from the 4200 block of Lee Highway, Warrenton, on Sept. 5. Detectives from the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office are investigating the incident.


Car reportedly stolen

Fauquier County detectives are investigating the theft of a motor vehicle reported to the Sheriff's Office Sept. 7. According to police records, a caller from the 13300 block of Elk Run Road in Bealeton reported the theft of the 2003 Honda S2000.


3 hurt in Bealeton crash

Three people were reportedly hurt in a three-car wreck Sept. 1.

An accident report taken by a Fauquier County deputy indicates the wreck happened in the 6500 block of Catlett Road near Schoolhouse Road at approximately 1:18 p.m.

A 17-year-old Bealeton boy was driving a Ford F-150 northbound on Catlett Road and had just passed Schoolhouse Road when he allegedly swerved into the oncoming traffic lane.

According to the report, the teen admitted that a water bottle tipped over in the truck and that he had “removed his eyes from the roadway.”

As a result, police said the driver sideswiped a 2001 Ford Taurus driven by Victoria Elizabeth Towne, 19, of Bealeton and a 2006 KIA Optima driven by Chelsea Lorraine Parman, 19, of Remington. The truck finally came to rest in a wooded area on the southbound side of the road.

All three drivers complained of pain but did not have any visible signs of injuries, according to the report.

The teen was charged with failure to control a vehicle, police said.


Failure to yield results in wreck

A Warrenton man was charged with failure to yield the right of way after he was involved in a motor vehicle accident Sept. 2, police said.

An accident report taken by a Fauquier County deputy indicates the crash happened at the intersection of Vint Hill Road and Broad Run Church Road at approximately 5:58 p.m.

Russell Allen Stidham, 27, of Warrenton was driving a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am, and had stopped at the stop sign on Broad Run Church Road. He allegedly pulled out in front of another vehicle coming eastbound on Vint Hill Road.

Jim Thanh Nguyen, 30, of Olney, Md., who was driving the 2001 Ford Mustang, complained of pain after the crash and was transported to the hospital by EMS personnel, according to the report. Stidham also complained of pain, but was not transported.

Four injured in crash

Four people reportedly sustained minor injuries when a school bus backed into a passenger car at the Linden Post Office Sept. 2.

According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, the incident happened at approximately 6:12 a.m.

Stephen Gordon Early, 63, of Warrenton, was driving a 2004 International school bus when he allegedly hit a 1997 Volkswagen driven by John Joseph Pauline, 52, of Linden, while backing up. Both vehicles sustained minor damage.

Scooter rider hurt

Robert Lewis Crute, 63, of Warrenton was injured in a scooter crash on Sept. 4, police said.

According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, the wreck happened on Blackwell Road near Airlie Road at approximately 1:04 p.m.

Crute was driving northbound in the 6800 block of Blackwell Road when the 2005 Yamaha Zuma scooter he was riding went off the right side of the road, police said. Crute complained of pain to his upper shoulder area and was transported to the hospital by EMS personnel.

He was not charged in connection with the crash.
