Property damage results in arrestPolice said Ronnie Gerald Sr., 40, of Bealeton, was arrested and charged with being drunk in public and reckless handling of a firearm Sept. 29.
The arrest reportedly occurred after someone in the 11200 block of Wolfe Court reported an incident involving a damaged garage door to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office. The estimated loss in the case was $1,000.
Larcenies reported
The Fauquier County Sheriff's Office received three reports of larcenies Sept. 29-Oct. 5. The incidents as detailed in police reports are as follows:
— Sept. 29, someone from the 5100 block of Catlett Road, Midland, reported the theft of copper plumbing worth approximately $8,400.
— Oct. 1, a caller from the 6200 block of Covey Road, Warrenton, reported the theft of household goods from a building. The estimated loss was $4,000 and an investigation is ongoing.
— Oct. 5, a complainant from the 10000 block of Clarkes Road, Bealeton, reported the theft of Baja Claw tires. The estimated loss was $1,000 and the investigation is ongoing.
Graffiti discovered
Someone reported property damage involving graffiti to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office Sept. 30.
According to police records, the complainant said the graffiti was spray painted on public property in the 3200 block of Rokeby Road, Delaplane. The estimated loss is $50.
Tractor stolen
A tractor theft reported to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office Oct. 2 reportedly remains under investigation.
Police records indicate a caller from the 1000 block of Winchester Road in Paris reported the theft of a John Deere 6320. The estimated loss is $64,000.
Dowd case certified to grand jury
The case of Christopher Mark Dowd, a Sumerduck man accused of several counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, has been forwarded to a grand jury.
According to court records, a General District Court judge determined during a recent hearing there was enough probable cause to certify four of the gun possession charges to the panel, which will meet Nov. 24.
Prosecutors opted not to pursue five other firearms charges.
His arrest stemmed from what began as an investigation of possible animal cruelty or neglect.
Authorities confiscated several firearms during the ensuing investigation.
Sixty-five animals were also removed from the property. Of those, approximately 42 were seized, according to Phillippe. The rest were surrendered voluntarily.
During a previous court appearance, Dowd agreed not to try to reclaim the animals.
Two injured in wreck
Two people were reportedly injured in a car crash at the intersection of U.S. 29 [James Madison Highway] and James Madison Street near Remington Oct. 1.
According to a Fauquier County deputy's accident report, the wreck happened at approximately 5:49 p.m.
Theresa Dawn Wintermyer, 18, of Bealeton, who was driving a 1996 Ford Focus, was turning left from U.S. 29 onto James Madison Street when she allegedly pulled into the path of another vehicle. The other car was a 2007 Honda Civic driven by Kathryn U. Verber, 46, of Springfield. Verber, who was going northbound, was unable to avoid the collision, according to the report. Verber's car went off the road where it hit a small post and went over a small bank before coming to rest.
Verber, who had visible signs of injuries was transported to the hospital by EMS personnel, according to the report. Wintermyer did not have any visible signs of injuries, but complained of pain, and a passenger in her car was also hurt, police said. Neither was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Minor injuries reported in wreck
A Marshall woman sustained minor injuries in a single-vehicle accident on Piney Mountain Road Oct. 4, police said.
According to an accident report taken by a Fauquier County deputy, the wreck happened at approximately 8 a.m. Laurn Michelle Chmielecki, 24, was driving a 2000 Nissan Altima east on Piney Mountain Road when she allegedly ran through a stop sign and hit a bank. She did not have any visible signs of injuries, but complained of pain and was transported to the hospital by EMS personnel.
