Sixth straight loss continues Falcons' 'tiring' season

A rolling truck of momentum can't be stopped by optimism alone, especially when loaded with six consecutive losses.

As such, the Fauquier Falcons' couldn't avoid a 4-3 loss to the Stonewall Jackson baseball team Thursday in Manassas.

The Falcons are now 4-11 on the season and sit seventh in the Cedar Run District standings with a 2-9 mark. They last won on April 11, when a 23-9 win over Liberty seemed a potential pivot point for coach Paul Koch's Falcons.

That turnaround never materialized, though, and each ensuing loss has been like a stone added to the spinning dryer in a coach's stomach.

“It eats me alive," Koch said. "I think it hurts them [the Falcons]. It has to. If it’s not then there’s something wrong with them."

"It gets real tiring," said FHS pitcher Nick McMahon. "We just have to get things done as a team and we’re just not doing that right now."

The Falcons continue to flash their skills — Thursday it was eight hits in the game — but haven't played well enough in all facets of the game to win...

See the Wednesday print edition of the Fauquier Times-Democrat for the complete story.
