Marshall This Week: Lone Oak Pool adds open swim days

With just a few weeks left of summer before the children go back to school, why not spend a few days at the pool? Get your bathing suit on, gather the children and head out for a day in the sun.

Lone Oak Pool would like the community to know it has added an additional day of open swimming for everyone to enjoy. Open swim days are now every Tuesday and Thursday for the remainder of the swimming season, the month of August. Hours for open swim are 12-8 p.m., and the fee is $5 per person.

Keep cool on the hot, humid days of summer at the only pool offering public access in the Northern Region. You could also become a member and join anytime by inquiring at the pool, (540) 364-9803.

Lone Oak Recreational Association will also be holding an end-of-the-season Seafood/BBQ Dinner/Dance/Raffle. This event will be held 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Sept. 6, at the facility, 4603 Frost St., Marshall.

The event is open to the public and is for adults only. The price of a ticket is $75 for singles, and $100 for couples. They will be giving away a $5,000 cash prize, based on 200 minimum tickets sold. C'mon on out and socialize, BYOB.

For more information and to purchase your ticket, contact Lone Oak at (540) 364-9803 or stop by anytime during normal hours.

Fauquier Girls Softball Association is accepting registrations through July 31. Girls 5-18 years of age can play and all skill levels are welcome, from beginner to all-star. Check out www.FauquierGirlsSoftball.com or call (540) 347-5063.
