Catlett This Week: Golf tournament tees off Aug. 1
News of our children's participation in the Fauquier County Fair keeps coming to me. Congratulations to Zack Woodward on winning the Eleanor Hazel Trophy Award. It consists of a silver platter and is awarded to the 4-H'er with the most points in the Arts and Crafts Junior Division. A
Though Grace Ott was on crutches because of a sprained ankle, her heifer won the Supreme Champion Heifer Award. She is deeply grateful to Matt Harrover and Brittany Linton for showing for her.
Mary Ott placed Best in Bred & Cow division with her steer and also first in Showmanship. Matt Mullins placed Best Beef Exhibitor and Reserve Champion Commercial Heifer. Congratulations to all.
We enjoyed having our great grandchildren, Wes, Savannah, Kaylee and Cameron Miller for a visit this summer. I took all of them to the fair for an afternoon of fun.
Savannah is a little dare-devil and enjoyed the fast rides, Kaylee the lesser ones, and Cameron, at two and a half years old, went on all they allowed him to and tried to get on other rides with Kaylee.
Wesley was here for about a month. In that time, he visited with school friends Michael Granche and Taylor White, as well as the neighbor children, Cody and Samantha Jenkins, Emily and Owen Kirk, Cory and Jill Rodgers, Haley and McKenzie Herndon and Mariah Tiller.
Some of the children, along with their parents, were able to attend the cookout we had for them. My sister, Jeanette Hoskins, was here from Tennessee the afternoon of the cookout. Wesley also enjoyed playing baseball with the older Hall children next door, Melanie, Noah and Alyssa, and dad (Tom), too.
