How good a ballplayer is Pat da Rock? Answer: Da Rock got game.

The featured speaker at the Falcon Basketball Camp played a few past and present FHS varsity players one-on-one after giving his message to the kids. Stepping up an trying to keep up with the And One Tour streetball player were Jerrelle Benimon, Aubrey McLean and Michael Green.

“He got 'em all,” reported Fauquier High coach Wayne Brizzi about da Rock's ability to school the eager Falcons with quickness and ballhandling.

Da Rock, aka Pat Robinson, was the master of juke dribbling moves, and often had the Falcons leaning the wrong way. Da Rock can also jump out of the gym.

“I don't know if Michael scored on him. Aubrey did OK. He tried to go low, but Pat didn't let him,” Brizzi said.

After disposing of Green and McLean, da Rock took the rock against Benimon, a 6-foot-7 Falcon star who is being recruited by a number of colleges. “It looked like Pat saved Jerrelle for last,” said Brizzi.

The Cedar Run District Player of the Year scored a few baskets, but did not do enough to beat Robinson.

Brizzi said grabbing “The Rock” for guest appearance was a slam dunk. He said Robinson earned his $200 fee many times over.

“He related to the kids so well. He had campers try moves, he gave fundamentals and showed some trick things,” said Brizzi.

“We talked all week about how it was free to dream. That it doesn't cost anything to dream and to keep trying. That's what his story was.”
