Grand larceny charged

Michael Eugene Neff of Bentonville was charged with two counts of grand larceny and possession of burglar tools June 30.

Maj. Greg Mauck of the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office said the series of events that resulted in Neff's arrest began at approximately 1:25 a.m.

Deputies received a report of a larceny in progress in the 4200 block of Old Stockyard Road in Marshall. When they got there, they reportedly found a Dodge pickup truck towing a box trailer. One riding lawnmower was already loaded into the trailer and one was being loaded into the trailer, Mauck said.

Deputies observed a man later identified as Neff with the vehicle, Mauck added.

Neff allegedly fled the scene, but deputies and investigators set up a perimeter. Deputy Chad Brubaker and his K-9, Rik, came to the scene and tracked Neff to a wooded area, where he was apprehended without incident.

Neff was also wanted in another jurisdiction for a hit-and-run accident resulting in personal injury, Mauck said.

Neff is now scheduled to appear in Fauquier County General District Court at 9 a.m. July 14.

Mailboxes hit

A Bealeton man was reportedly charged with hit and run [damaging unattended property] and reckless driving after he was involved in a car crash June 27.

The wreck happened in the 1500 block of Courthouse Road near Brent Town Road.

According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, Roger Lee Jacobs Jr., 30, was driving a 1994 Ford F-150 pickup truck when it went off the right side of the road and struck several mailboxes. The mailboxes were dragged under the vehicle for more than a mile before it came to a stop.

Jacobs allegedly left the pickup truck in the middle of the road. Police said they found him at his house shortly after midnight June 28.

He was not injured in the crash.

Failure to maintain proper lookout

Scott Lee Kitzmiller, 28, of Elk Garden, WV, was charged with failure to maintain a proper lookout after he was involved in a car crash on June 27, police said.

The wreck happened at the intersection of U.S. 29 and Lord Fairfax Drive just before 5:10 p.m.

A Fauquier County deputy's accident report indicates Kirstyn Danielle Sanders, 20, of Whethersfield, Delaware, was driving a 2006 Subaru when she came to an abrupt stop at the intersection. Kitzmiller was apparently "distracted by roadside activity" and hit Sanders' vehicle from behind.

No one was hurt in the crash.

A 20-year-old Marshall man was charged with DUI after he was involved in an ATV accident June 28.

Maj. Greg Mauck of the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office said Shane Michael Ramser was charged with the offense as the result of an incident that occurred in the 4300 block of Sunset Court. Ramser was driving the ATV on the road when the accident occurred, Mauck added.

Ramser and another person were both injured. The female passenger was reportedly flown to UVA medical center.
