Brown family holds 40th reunion

The family of the late Elton and Mamie Brown of The Plains held their 40th annual family reunion on June 14 at Rady Park in Warrenton.

Their late sister, Mamie O'Bannon Allman, started the reunions at Bull Run Park in June 1969.

There were 113 present, 45 of them Mamie's family. The five remaining children were there: Vergie Brown of Warrenton, Bess Verts of Manassas, Charles Brown of Culpeper, and Marge Bradley and John Brown of Warrenton.

The oldest in attendance was the Rev. Linwood Ball, and the youngest in attendance was Amelia Breeden (Bess Verts' great-granddaughter). Cindy Conrad and family traveled the farthest, coming from California. Three people were recognized for perfect attendance: Vergie Brown, Eddie O'Bannon and Ross Feldner.

Everyone had a great time reminiscing and catching up.
