Police briefs
Destruction of property reportedThe Fauquier County Sheriff's Office received a report of damaged property from the 6800 block of Well House Road in Warrenton on Aug. 4.According to police records, windows on three vehicles had been damaged. The estimated loss is $2,000.
Stolen vehicle recovered
A vehicle was recovered one day after being reported stolen from the 1300 block of Aquia Road in Midland.
According to police records, the complainant reported the theft of the 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe on Aug. 5. The vehicle is worth approximately $8,000.
Larcenies reported
The Fauquier County Sheriff's Office received two reports of larcenies Aug. 5.
Police records indicate one of the incidents occurred in the 6800 block of Brianwood Court in Bealeton. Compact discs, an amplifier, a compact disc player and cash were allegedly taken. The estimated loss is $1,270.
The second incident reportedly happened in the 3400 block of Bull Run Mountain Road in The Plains. Miscellaneous construction equipment and a concrete chop saw were allegedly taken. The estimated loss is $946.
Copper wire stolen
A theft of copper wire from the 5400 block of Afton Lane in Warrenton remains under investigation.
The theft was reported to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office Aug. 7. Cable and wire was also reported stolen. The estimated loss is $10,000.
Fraud investigated
Fauquier County detectives are investigating two cases of fraud reported to the Sheriff's Office last week.
According to police records, someone from the 7800 block of Cannonball Gate Road in Warrenton reported credit card fraud. The estimated loss is $710.
In the second case, someone from the 6500 block of Pinewood Lane in Warrenton reported identity theft. The estimated loss is $950.
Burglaries investigated
Three residential burglaries reported to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office last week remain under investigation.
Police records indicate two of the incidents were reported Aug. 8.
One occurred in the 13500 block of Silver Hill Road in Sumerduck. In that case, the complainant reported the theft of computer hardware and software, jewelry, cash, a Ruger P85 9mm, and a Canon digital camera. The estimated loss is $11,500.
The other case occurred in the 8100 block of Oxford Way in Warrenton. A 19-inch LCD television, a 40-inch RCA home theatre television, and assorted change were reportedly stolen. The estimated loss is $2,000.
On Aug. 10, a caller from the 11400 block of Crest Hill Road in Marshall reported a residential burglary with the theft of several firearms including a Smith and Wesson 9mm, a Sig 1911 45 pistol, and a Sig 226 40 caliber. The estimated loss is $2,700.
Graffiti discovered on houses
The Fauquier County Sheriff's Office received a report of property damage in the 5500 block of Angus Hill Drive in Warrenton on Aug. 10, police said.
The complainant found graffiti on an unspecified number of houses in the area, according to police records. The estimated loss is $1,100.
One injured in wreck
A Catlett man was hurt in a car crash Aug. 7, police said.
The wreck happened on Bristersburg Road at approximately 4:41 p.m.
According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, John Charles Soto, 24, was driving a 1994 Chevrolet 3500 southbound on Bristersburg Road. Meanwhile, Denver Edward Helton, 58, of Culpeper, was driving a 1999 International 4700 northbound.
Soto came around a curve and noticed there was a vehicle in the southbound lane, according to the report. He hit the brakes and slid into the northbound lane, hitting Helton's vehicle in the front end.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital by EMS personnel.
Following too closely charged
A 16-year-old Midland boy was reportedly charged with following too closely after he was involved in a car crash Aug. 7.
The wreck happened on Meetze Road near Beach Road shortly after 1:30 p.m.
The accident report taken by a Fauquier County deputy indicates the teen was driving a 1991 Ford Explorer west on Meetze Road. Lauren Lynn Hinkler, 19, of Midland, was also driving a 2000 Chevrolet west on Meetze Road.
Hinkler stopped in the traffic lane waiting for an unknown vehicle to make a left turn into a driveway. The teen did not see her car in time to stop and hit Hinkler's car in the rear, according to the report.
The teen's car then struck a 2003 Dodge operated by Donna Jean Corbin, 50, of Midland, police said.
Hinkler, who was visibly injured, was transported to the hospital by EMS personnel.
Failure to control charged
Police said Ashlie Rasharra Booker, 22, of Richmond, was charged with failure to control a motor vehicle and driving a vehicle with faulty brakes after she was involved in a motor vehicle accident Aug. 7.
The crash happened on Catlett Road at approximately 5:10 p.m.
A Fauquier County deputy's report indicates Booker's vehicle went off the right side of the road in order to avoid other vehicles stopped in the roadway. The vehicles that had stopped were waiting to make a left turn, according to the report.
Booker reportedly complained of pain following the accident and was transported to the hospital by EMS personnel.
Charges pending in wreck
An investigation is ongoing and charges are pending in two-car crash that happened on U.S. 17 just south of the Marsh Run Mobile Home community Aug. 10.
Virginia State Trooper Chris Carson, who is assigned to the Area 12 Office in Warrenton, said the wreck happened at approximately 3:05 p.m.
A preliminary investigation determined that a PT Cruiser was going 55 mph in the right lane when the driver of an Oldsmobile Cutlass pulled out in front of it, Carson said. The driver of the PT Cruiser rear-ended the Cutlass, but there was a "small impact," Carson said.
Even so, the trooper said the Cutlass went across the median, back across the southbound lanes and over a guard rail.
The driver of the Cutlass was treated and released from the hospital, Carson added.
