Top 20 QBs of All-Time

Top 20 QBs of All-Time

Where do Brady, Manning, and Favre rank?

Now that Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Brett Favre are all having phenomenal years, where do all three rank all-time?

I compiled the list below of the top 20 quarterbacks of all-time.  The criteria I considered when making this list were:  Super Bowl Appearances, Super Bowl Wins, Performance in Super Bowls, Career Passer Rating, Career TD Passes, Career TDs rushing, & Career Passing Yardage.

The Top 20 Quarterbacks of All-Time

1. Joe Montana
2. Terry Bradshaw
3. Steve Young
4. John Elway
5. Johny Unitas
6. Tom Brady
7. Bart Starr
8. Brett Favre
9. Peyton Manning
10. Dan Marino
11. Troy Aikman
12. Bob Griese
13. Warren Moon
14. Dan Fouts
15. Roger Staubach
16. Jim Kelley
17. Y.A. Tittle
18. Randall Cunningham
19. Joe Namath
20. Fran Tarkenton

Just missed the list:  Kurt Warner, Phil Simms, & Jim Plunkett

I’d love to hear what each of you thinks of my list and any arguments as to why certain players should be higher or lower on the list.  I’d also like to see your own top 10 or top 20 lists.

How does Kurt Warner always make it into discussion on a list like this? If he's one of the top 20 QBs of all-time, I'll eat my hat.

Better yet, I'll eat your hat as punishment for saying that.

Otto Graham should be on here somewhere.

Hopefully you have a Rams hat from the late 90s/early 00's ready. :)

Kurt Warner took his team (the Rams at the time) to the Super Bowl twice and won it once (throwing for over 400 yards). The main argument for Warner though, would be that his career passer rating (some say one of the most important stats for a QB) is 93.2 Only two or three other QBs have had a higher QB rating than that for their career. Steve Young has the highest ever at 112.8 , then I believe that Peyton Manning is second with 94.7 , then Tom Brady and Warner are both around 93.0, with Joe Montana close behind at 92.3. I think it would be hard to keep a guy with the 3rd or 4th highest passer rating in history out of the top 20 or 25.

The key to judging a quarterback is what is said in the Bud commercials, his performance in the playoffs and the Superbowl. The only exception in Dan Marino.
