Awakening Music Festival Comes to Leesburg
Awakening Music Festival Comes to Leesburg
Historic Morven Park International Equestrian Center
Saturday, September 26
15,000 expected to attend
I don’t believe there has ever been an event in Loudoun County like the upcoming family music festival. Christian music fans will want to make note of this Saturday all-day event on their family's planning schedule as local, regional, and nationally known artists who present a wide range of contemporary Christian music will perform live on stage.
This is a terrific opportunity to bring together the local Loudoun church congregations for a well organized event at a reasonable price during tough economic times. The multi-church and multi-denominational event offers youth and families an atmosphere packed with positive messages via Christian music and special speakers. This concert provides an opportunity to share a message of faith, hope and love with large numbers of youth. We are planning to provide an opportunity for our Good Shepherd Alliance homeless youth to attend. Please consider contacting your youth pastors and have your church support this first time Awakening Christian Music Festival in our community.
The festival is being held on Sept. 26th, 2009 at Morven Park in Leesburg. Historic Morven Park is built on 1,000 acres of open space and comprises a multifaceted events facility that includes indoor and outdoor arenas, a renowned steeple-chase course, carriage obstacles, a beautiful series of cross-country courses, and a polo field.
The intent of the sponsor, Awakening Ministries, is to bring top-quality Christian entertainment to Northern Virginia to include an all-day, fun-filled event for the entire family. It is not just a teen event but an event with activities to reach all ages. Their objective is to provide a day of fun and fellowship for everyone and to introduce Christ through the music, artists and the speakers. The Awakening Music Festival is organized by a committee of volunteers from the Northern Virginia area. This group of volunteers is comprised from a variety of churches representing many denominations.

Previous Awakening Fest at Bull Run Regional Park
This is the 6th festival sponsored by Awakening Ministries. Previously the music festival was held at Bull Run Special Events Center in Centreville. Last year the festival had over 11,500 people in attendance. This year the sponsor expects a crowd of 15,000. The idea of the festival was fashioned by a few individuals after they read "The Purpose Driven Life, by: Rick Warren" and God inspired this event in their hearts. They looked for a way to make an impact in the community. With help from God and friends the festival was founded in 2003.
Awakening Ministries states on their web site that they are a non-profit organization and all funds go towards this annual festival. The profits are used to build an increasingly superior festival.
Gates open at 10:00 a.m. with the music commencing at 10:30 a.m. and running until 11:00 p.m. Tickets are a fair price at $20.00 and best of all children 6 and under are FREE. A wide range of activities for all ages begins at 11:30 a.m. to include Rock Climbing Walls, Gladiator Jousting, Volleyball, Kids Moon Bounce/Slides, Graffiti Wall, Petting Zoo, Pony Rides and Clowns. The festival is all lawn seating, so bring your blanket and chairs.
